Meet Lisa
Hi, I’m Lisa! I am a Bachelor of Social Work student at King’s University and have been working in the social services field for over ten years. I have had the honour and privilege to support both youth and adults, often in residential settings such as supportive housing, treatment facilities, and youth detention and custody where I have learned the importance of getting to know each and every individual on a deeper level in order to fully understand what makes them unique and how I may be able to best support them with an individualized plan to work towards living their best life.

As a student, I will incorporate a holistic and person-centered approach where we will explore all aspects of biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual wellbeing, and will incorporate various aspects of therapy. I have enjoyed learning about how to integrate aspects of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy into counselling.

On a personal note, I am now a mother of two sons, both born during the pandemic. I have experienced both the excitement and challenges that come with being a parent and starting a family. I understand the importance of having someone you can trust with confidence to help you through hard times and with the adjustment throughout the ever-changing state of parenting. I believe it is essential to be equipped with as much knowledge as possible, and to take preventative steps in order to protect the mental health and wellbeing of children and youth, while ensuring families can function to their fullest potential, despite how different that may look from one family to the next.

I hope that with these skills and knowledge, along with some of my own personal experience, I will collaborate with families and their children to provide a positive counselling experience!
